
Real Account Planning is the first book from Steve Hoyle
After graduating with a degree in Computer Science from Imperial College, London, Steve joined Burroughs Machines as a sales and marketing trainee. A brief period with Data General followed, after which he spent nearly ten years with Digital Equipment in various account management and sales management roles.
His experience included managing teams in the public sector, setting up an installed base group involving telesales and direct mail operations, and managing a large accounts group. Steve then spent three years with Apple Computer setting up and managing their Large Accounts Division. He initially ventured into consulting and training in the 1990’s before joining 3Com Corporation firstly as Sales Director for UK and Ireland and then as European Business Development Director.
Steve founded ProAct Business Development in 2001, and grew the business until it was sold in 2011. He is Principal of Links Development, which in addition to delivering the range of ProAct training courses, offers one-to-one coaching and consulting, particularly in the areas of Account Planning, Account Management, and Sales leadership.
In addition to training and consulting, Steve has written many articles and papers, and is a popular speaker at conferences and seminars. He is married with two children, lives in Bookham, Surrey in the United Kingdom as well as Abondance near Evian in the French Alps. He lists his hobbies as running, skiing, mountain biking and hill walking.
